A Living Monstrance

Visitation

The Visitation was “the first Eucharistic procession in history” (Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI). Having become “a living tabernacle” as she received her “first Holy Communion at the Annunciation, Mary goes “in haste” as a “living monstrance” to share her joy (and the real presence of Christ) with Elizabeth. This is the model for us all: to become “living Eucharist,” so that Christ becomes a Host lifted in us for others.
